Installing the Serial PCI Interface Card (Equinox)

 Tips:

The serial Equinox PCI interface card is no longer available from Dionex. However, as serial Equinox PCI interface cards may still be used in the field, refer to the corresponding installation instructions below.

This card is not supported under Windows Vista or later.

The Equinox cards are identical except for their components. Both cards lack jumpers and DIP switches. Both cards have a 78-pin output to which an additional cable is connected providing four (eight) serial interfaces. As soon as the card is installed, the COM port assignment and each single port are tested with a utility program supplied by Equinox.

Installing the Card

  1. Turn off the PC and disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the PC housing and find a free PCI slot. Carefully insert the card.

  3. Replace the PC housing, reconnect the power cable, and turn on the PC.

PCI interface cards are real Plug and Play cards. Thus, Windows attempts to install the card after it has been installed in the computer:
